The Dell Rapids Carnegie Library was originally built in 1910 and marked the first of the style differences from years prior. Rather than extravagant designs, Dell Rapids was the first to build smaller entrances, a plainer exterior, and a square building design. Although a simpler exterior, Dell Rapids chose to use Sioux quartzite for its facade, which is now an iconic attribute of Dell Rapids.
